As of 2016, the EPA implemented the approval of online, no hands-on required, Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP) Refresher courses.
This applied to the states whom left this rule under EPA jurisdiction. Oregon, as well as 13 other states, have opted to have the rule enforced by a local state agency. In the case of Oregon, that agency is the Oregon Health Authority. Despite EPA’s willingness to allow online RRP Refresher courses, OHA had not made that leap. That changed January 1st of this year.
In an effort to maintain our position as the leading provider in Oregon for both RRP Refresher and RRP Initial courses, the Oregon Home Builders Association has created our own online RRP Refresher course. After months of working back and forth with the EPA as well as our education system, the class has been approved and uploaded.
Contractors who are due to renew their Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting certification will be eligible to take this five hour online course as opposed to attending an in-person refresher course. Because this is an online only course, which has no hands-on portion, this course will renew a contractors RRP license for three years, as opposed to five years. After the three years has passed, a contractor will then be required to take an in-person course that includes a hands-on portion if they want to renew their certification.
Because this class is being provided by the Oregon Home Builders Association, discounts will be provided to all HBA members from the state.
In addition to the RRP Refresher course, OHBA provides a plethora of other online education curriculum to help contractors maintain and renew their CCB contractor’s license.
